YELLOW

in. the North

sebastian_kanzler_IMG_2284_edited.jpg

For several years now, I have spent my summers in Scandinavia. Traveling by van through forests, across the fjell, and along endless lakes, I have discovered my deep affection for these landscapes and the people who live here.

The photo project “Yellow in the North” portrays a figure dressed in the iconic yellow raincoat, moving through the vastness of the Nordic environment. At the water’s edge, deep in the forest, crossing adventurous bridges, or amidst the stark contrasts of mining landscapes.

The yellow is more than just a visual accent: it stands for adaptation, protection, and the quiet presence of human beings within a landscape far greater, older, and more powerful than themselves.

This project is not about a struggle against nature – but about balance. About the encounter between humans and the elements, about the right measure of closeness and distance, and about the beauty of a North that continues to fascinate me, summer after summer.
